Systems-Oriented Network Vision

XKL’s guiding philosophy is to develop products that fit into an over arching systems-oriented vision of the network. At the earliest stages of product development, XKL engineers perform extensive network modeling, develop a comprehensive architecture, settle on a specific implementation of that architecture, and — most importantly — validate that implementation through exhaustive simulation.

Next Generation Products

A fundamental XKL design tenet is that the equipment used in the development of a reliable Internet must ride on a simple, easy-to-understand software platform. XKL architecture puts that belief into practice by organizing key functions into simplified processes or tasks that are often relegated to separate hardware units to perform. If a particular process fails, it can be easily identified and addressed. This rational approach is replicated throughout the architecture, supporting the twin goals of creating cost-effective systems that exhibit very high reliability.

Band Combiner Devices

DBC

Allows scaling to 40 channels today (60 channels in the near future) on a single fiber pair by combining signals from up to 4 DarkStar systems, providing up to 400Gbps of transport.

DarkStar Band Combiners are available in 4–port and 6–port configurations. DBCs devices are used for single-path combination of bands on a point–to–point fiber topology. DBCd devices are used for dual–path combination of bands (east and west) on a ring or linear add/drop fiber topology.
